Here we summarize some recent reports by the EC interesting for CA stakeholders.

1.- On 13th February 2012 the Commission adopted a report on "The implementation of the Soil Thematic Strategy and ongoing activities", 

This report is supported by JRC reference report on "The State of Soil in Europe, which is available under

Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik said: "These reports highlight the importance of preserving European soils if we are to safeguard supplies of quality food and clean groundwater, healthy recreational spaces, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. We need to use the resources from our soils more sustainably. The best way to do this would be a common approach across the EU. The Commission has put legislative proposals on the table, and I hope our new report s will help Council and Parliament move towards action".

2.- Registrations are open for attending the Conference "Soil remediation and soil sealing" that the commission organises on 10th and 11th may 2012 in Brussels. More information on the conference, the draft programme and the on-line registration form are available underhttp://ec.europa.eu/environment/soil/public_events_en.htm

3.- Finally, this year there is "Green Week" http://ec.europa.eu/environment/greenweek/, taking place from 22nd to 25th May 2012 in Brussels, that will focus on water.
